Features

The essentials of web video downloading, done right

No gimmicks — detection, merging, resuming, and batching, each built to survive real-world sites.

Auto-detect videos

Paste a page URL and the built-in engine loads it and captures video traffic — including JS-loaded players and videos inside cross-origin iframes.

m3u8 / HLS auto-merge

Stream segments are downloaded, decrypted, and merged into a single playable MP4 — with concurrent segment downloads for speed.

Resume anytime

Pause, quit, or lose your connection — Vidnip picks up right where it left off. A half-finished 1 GB download never starts over.

Batch playlists

When a whole season or playlist is detected, queue every episode with one click and let it run.

Works out of the box

Download and merge engines are bundled inside the app. No Homebrew, no Python, no command line — just double-click.

Dock progress & history

Live progress and task count on the Dock icon, a notification when done, and a searchable download history.

FAQ

Questions you might have

Which sites and formats are supported?

Direct mp4 / webm videos embedded in ordinary pages, plus m3u8 (HLS) and DASH streams — all segments are downloaded and merged into a playable MP4. A built-in engine also covers thousands of popular video sites. DRM-protected content (e.g. Netflix) is not supported, and Vidnip tells you honestly when it detects it.

Can it download videos behind a login?

Yes. Open the built-in preview window, sign in to the site normally, and your session is used for detection and downloading.

Is the trial limited?

No — all features are available for 7 days. Afterwards detection still works but downloads pause; purchasing and activating resumes them instantly.

How does activation work? What about a new Mac?

Your license key arrives by email after payment. Open Vidnip → “Purchase / License”, paste the key, and activate (internet required for activation; daily use works offline). One key covers up to 3 Macs; deactivate on the old machine to free a slot before switching.

What language is the app interface?

The app UI is currently Simplified Chinese; an English interface is on the roadmap. The workflow itself is simple — paste a link and click the purple Download button.

Why Vidnip instead of Downie and similar tools?

Same job, lighter tool: a CN¥25 one-time purchase focused on doing detection, m3u8 merging, resuming, and batch downloads really well — with everything bundled so it works out of the box.
